About

Columbine Hall has been the home of Hew Stevenson and his late wife Leslie Geddes-Brown since 1993. They restored the house, gardens and grounds, and have received critical acclaim for their efforts.

Both Leslie and Hew worked in magazines and newspapers and so Columbine Hall has had its share of celeb status. The interiors have been in World of Interiors, Country Life, Country Homes and Interiors and The Perfect English House book by Ros Byam Shaw.

The gardens have featured in Country Living, Gardens Illustrated, The English Garden, The Kitchen Garden. They also appear in Leslie’s own books, The Walled Garden and The Water Garden.

Quotes

“Islanded by its moat, in time as well as place, Columbine Hall's garden conveys a strong sense of history as well as poetry.” - Roger Deakin, Gardens Illustrated, March 2002.

“It is true filmset material complete with pargetting... different sloped roofs... four poster beds, huge open fireplaces...” - Victoria Hawkins, Suffolk Magazine, July 2000.

“Surrounded by rich green meadows and old trees... a moated manor house... which has preserved an atmosphere of indefinable timelessness.” - Eric Sandon, Suffolk Houses, 1977.
