The Gig House is in the centre of Suffolk, so both the famous coast with Aldeburgh and Southwold and the half-timbered wool villages of Lavenham and Long Melford are within easy reach. Ipswich is 11 miles and Bury St Edmunds 16.
It’s only a mile from the major A14 and two miles from a direct London-rail link yet, down a long drive and surrounded by fields, it is in the heart of the countryside. Peaceful, if you don’t mind the quacks of the wild mallards and coo-ing pigeons, yet five miles from a fine farm shop and three from Tesco.
The house and gardens are hardly altered from their medieval roots and visitors can walk round 29 acres of parkland. There are historic houses to visit (see Invitationtoview.co.uk), fine restaurants and antique shops a short drive away plus long walks for the energetic.
