The West Barn, Columbine Hall The West Barn is an old and traditional timber-framed Suffolk barn clad in black-painted timber boards. Inside, its soaring roof and ancient beams are emphasised by uplighters round the floor and concealed spotlights at ceiling level. It is nearly 16m long with a floor area of approx 105 square metres. It will hold 90 people seated at round tables, 120 at rectangular tables or up to 150 for cocktails or buffets. CLICK ON IMAGES TO ENLARGE The barn is reached through an old-fashioned walled vegetable garden and beyond it, through a pair of large glazed doors, is a half-moon shaped lawn which can be used for drinks in the summer or for further seating capacity (up to 80) in a marquee. An adjoining kitchen (approx 15 square metres) is equipped with a large caterer's fridge, a double-drainer double sink, hand washbasin and electric sockets (but no cooker). There is car parking space for 50 cars (or more by arrangement). Under local planning regulations no amplified music is allowed outside the building and noise should not be so loud as to upset the neighbours.
Charges The charge for hiring the premises is £1,350 for a weekend event (the hirer having access over three days, including one day before and one day after the event to allow for setting up and clearing up). Otherwise the charge for weekdays is £450 per day. Things we do not provide: For larger numbers a mobile lavatory needs to be hired as there are at present only limited facilities on site. We do not supply tables, chairs, place-settings, marquee etc but can give names of firms from whom they can be hired. We do not have resident caterers but can provide names if required. Holiday cottage There is an attractive holiday cottage, the Gig House, close to the West Barn. It sleeps six and, if available, can be booked as well (for wedding guests for example).
